My sessions are tailored, intentional, and built around honest connection, but I’ve never believed honest has to mean ordinary.
Sometimes the photograph is already there, waiting for me to notice it. The glance. The laugh. The hand reaching instinctively for another.
And sometimes I see what could be there.
A piece of unexpected light. A dramatic composition. Movement, color, shadow, atmosphere. An idea that begins with, “Trust me for a second…”
I love both.
My work moves between the candid and the created, the intimate and the theatrical, because your story deserves more than a formula. It deserves to be seen for what it actually is and imagined for what it could become.

THIS IS WHAT REMEMBERING LOOKS LIKE.
A wedding becoming family history. A child exactly as they were before they grew another inch. A portrait made simply because you existed in this body, in this season, in this version of yourself. A ridiculous laugh. A packed dance floor. A quiet hand reaching for another. And sometimes, a photograph created for no other reason than we imagined something beautiful and decided to make it real. There doesn’t have to be one kind of story worth turning into art.
There just has to be something worth remembering.

I’m not there to manufacture a perfect wedding for the camera.
I’m there to notice yours and preserve enough of it that decades from now, you can still find your way back.

Not every photograph needs to document something that already exists.
Sometimes we invent the world first.
A concept. A character. A mood. A little theatricality. An idea that gets increasingly elaborate because neither of us knows when to leave well enough alone. This is where photography gets to play.

I work through
I’m Heidi. And I have never been particularly interested in making everything look perfect. I’m interested in the second before perfect.
The breath. The crooked smile. The hand reaching instinctively for someone familiar. The look nobody performed because nobody realized I was watching. I notice things.
It may be the most important thing I bring with me.
Because photographs eventually become something much bigger than evidence of what you wore or where you stood.
They become evidence that this version of your life existed.
So I photograph with that future in mind.
Not just for you now.
For the person you’ll be when these photographs mean even more than they do today.
